Standard 3.2.2A

Standard 3.2.2A of the Food Standards Code applies to all Australian businesses that supply food. This includes childcare providers, aged care services, hospitality businesses and food delivery operators.

It is now unlawful for anyone in these businesses to handle food without food safety training. The legal definition of handling food refers to anyone involved with the making, cooking, preparing, serving, packing, displaying, storing, and the delivery of food as well as the cleaning of equipment, utensils, surfaces and cutlery.

There is no accredited course for food handlers and business owners are free to decide who delivers the training, how it's delivered and how often. But the law requires this training to include safe food handling, food contamination, cleaning & sanitising, and personal hygiene.

Who Needs Remedial Training?

We developed this professional online test to help assess existing staff and determine if further food safety training is necessary. The test is easy to arrange and takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

The test is based on the areas of food safety knowledge specified by Standard 3.2.2A.

Combined with an on-the-job evaluation, the test offers an affordable and effective tool to help determine if additional training is required.
