Like all food businesses, catering firms must comply with Australia’s food safety laws. That means it’s unlawful for anyone to touch food, clean cooking equipment, wipe tables or wash cutlery without having completed food safety training.
How they are trained and by whom is up to each business to decide. However, this training must at the very least include:
The Food Safety eLearning Academy now offers CATERING Food Handler (PLUS); an online food safety training course for Australian catering businesses that won't break the bank.
It features a comprehensive curriculum in accordance with the Food Standards Code and is compliant with Standard 3.2.2A.
The Course is made up of Chapters that take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete, and these are broken down into Lessons. Training content is brought to life with easy-to-understand language, high-quality images, diagrams and instructional videos. So, students gain the knowledge they need by law and learn how to use it.
At the end of each Chapter is a FACT SHEET for students to download and keep followed by a short Quiz.
The training is self-paced and available 24/7 using a PC, laptop, smart phone, or smart device and is delivered using one of the world’s most prominent online education platform.
Successful completion of the Course is recognised and rewarded with an official Certificate of Completion.
